As of 2025, 3Dtracking is among the first telematics platform providers to integrate with Teltonika’s new and streamlined tachograph management system, TachoSync. This integration comes at an opportune time as a new deadline for tachograph use looms for all fleets operating across EU borders.
If your clients already rely on Teltonika devices, this integration gives them an exclusive opportunity to stay ahead of the upcoming tachograph deadline, more easily.
How compliance keeps pace with transport technology
Tachograph requirements show us how technology and compliance have evolved in tandem over time. What began in 1952 as a basic mandate in Germany for heavy commercial vehicles expanded into an EU-wide compliance standard by 1986.
As transport networks grew, regulations followed technology. Digital tachographs emerged in 2005–2006, and then we had smart tachographs in 2019, which introduced automation and greater accuracy. The ongoing rollout of Smart Tachograph Version 2 from 2023, and its extension to lighter vehicles by July 1st 2026, reflects how regulation continues to adapt alongside advancing technology to improve safety and cross-border transport oversight.
Does the compliance deadline apply to your clients?
If your clients’ vehicles cross EU borders, the July 2026 deadline applies. It doesn’t matter where the company is registered - these tachograph regulations are based on how and where the vehicle is used.
That means this affects more fleets than you may realize. EU-based operators, UK fleets running into or through the EU, operators in Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, and even non-EU fleets delivering into the EU are all covered. If a truck crosses an EU border as part of its route, compliance is non-negotiable unless you’re prepared to pay.
How remote tachograph downloads make compliance easier
The 3Dtracking platform’s integration with TachoSync aims to make tachograph compliance less time-consuming. Remote tachograph downloads mean fleet managers don’t need to summon drivers back to the depot just to pull data for compliance requirements. Regardless of vehicle or driver location, fleet managers can download both vehicle and driver file types (DDD, V1B, C1B, and TGD) directly from the 3Dtracking platform, now syncing seamlessly with Teltonika’s TachoSync system.
Because compliance doesn’t need to cost mileage and manhours. Not anymore.

Let your account manager know if, at any point, you need guidance. They can walk you through the setup process.
Compliance is the beginning, but with TachoSync integrated into the 3Dtracking platform, your clients can do far more than meet regulatory deadlines. They have the data at their fingertips to optimize driver behavior and slash fuel costs, set alerts for risky actions, and increase efficiency across their entire fleet management ecosystem.
Don’t just help your EU clients meet a deadline. Help your clients grow. We work to make that easier, every day.
If your clients haven’t yet connected TachoSync and the 3Dtracking platform, speak to your account manager. We’ll be happy to set it up for you.
Frequently asked questions about remote tachograph downloads
What is a remote tacho download?
Remote tachograph download means you can collect driver and vehicle tachograph files without physically touching the vehicle or the driver card; you pull the files digitally.
Which digital tachographs are compatible with the remote download unit?
Remote download works with EU-approved digital and smart tachographs. Compatibility depends on the tachograph model and whether the vehicle is connected to a supported telematics solution.
How to install a tachograph in a heavy vehicle?
Installing the tachograph device should be done by the hardware provider’s experts. If you have the device installed, you’re halfway to tachograph success - just let our technical support team at 3Dtracking take care of the TachoSync integration with our platform.
