3Dtracking and Trak launch integrated Wireless Fuel Cap Sensor

Written by admin | Apr 13, 2023 12:00:00 AM

3Dtracking and Trak have recently completed the integration of the Trak wireless fuel cap sensor with the 3Dtracking telematics platform.

How the wireless fuel cap sensor works

The Trak smart fuel cap communicates the fuel cap status to the 3Dtracking platform through a Bluetooth connection to a tracking device installed on a vehicle. All fuel cap events – Cap Closed, Tamper Detection, Cap Open – are available to view in the 3Dtracking platform.

Specific events, in particular instances of tampering, can be configured to trigger a real-time alert for immediate follow-up by the fleet manager.

FAQs about the wireless fuel cap sensor

What is a fuel cap sensor?

A fuel cap sensor is a smart device installed in place of a standard fuel tank cap. It monitors the status of the cap and communicates this information wirelessly to a fleet management platform.

How do fuel cap sensors work?

The Trak smart fuel cap operates via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.1) to connect with GPS tracking devices. Events such as Cap Open, Cap Closed, and Tamper Detection are captured and instantly transmitted to 3Dtracking’s fleet management platform, where they trigger real-time alerts.

How to check the fuel cap sensor?

Checking the fuel cap sensor is as simple as viewing real-time status updates through the 3Dtracking platform. All cap-related events are clearly logged, and alerts can be configured for instant push notifications in the case of unauthorized activity.

What are the benefits of the wireless fuel cap sensor?

The Trak smart fuel cap is completely wireless, which saves on installation time and cost for fleet management solution providers and their customers. It also integrates with tracking devices from leading manufacturers, including Teltonika’s FMB series.
