The enhanced driver behavior feature from 3Dtracking gives fleet managers a trip-by-trip view of how their drivers are behaving based on a list of specific criteria, and allows them to identify top performers.
“This improved feature saves companies money and allows fleet managers to identify who is driving each vehicle,” says Roydon Michael, CEO of 3Dtracking.
What is fleet driver scoring?
Driver behavior scoring is a way of turning how a vehicle is driven into a simple, easy-to-understand score. Each trip starts with a maximum possible score. When risky events occur—such as harsh braking, speeding, sharp cornering, or excessive idling - points are deducted. The remaining points are then converted into a percentage or star rating, showing how safely and consistently the driver performed on that trip.
What's included in driver scoring?
- Trip scoring and visibility: Each trip is scored using a star rating based on the number of incidents, with 100% indicating a perfect trip. Star indicators provide quick oversight, with detailed incident breakdowns available per trip.
- Driver ranking and reporting: The dashboard highlights the top five and bottom five drivers, while KPI reports show driver or vehicle performance percentages over the selected reporting period.
- Driver-to-vehicle allocation: Drivers can assign themselves to vehicles via the mobile app or web platform, removing the need for physical driver tags or additional allocation hardware.
- Vehicle data integration: Newer vehicles connect through wireless devices, sensors, or CANBUS integration, while older vehicles are supported using retrofitted sensors to ensure full fleet coverage.
